Los Angeles has thousands of restaurants and can become a little overwhelming, so here is your list of local favorites that will give you some directing on where to eat.

Le Rouge does its name justice by being as seductive as deep red lipstick. Entering you become entranced by the thick cherry glow of the lights and paint, with bright dots randomly dispersed like stars. When you enter you can go to the left for the bar or head to the right half of the room for dinner, with a wall separating the two. And privet party booths in the front.

Keeping with their seductive theme, there are fresh white tulips at every table. The tulips conjure thoughts of romance, and Le Rouge puts a twist on the usual flower vase with the head of a rose floating in the tulip’s water. The lighting and décor and colors are pleasing, but the DJ has problems controlling the sound levels and should lower the volume sometimes.

If you’re having dinner, try to get a table in the back because the front lounges can be rowdy and annoying if you’re trying to have a conversation.

There is an extensive “Small Dish” menu which reminds us of eating tappas in Spain, where you order lot of appetizers and share with the group. Tappas style is the best way to eat at Le Rouge, ordering two or three small dishes and sharing them with the table.

No beer on tap, which in Denver is a problem, and what they have for bottle selection is embarrassing. But going along with the parallelism of a Spanish bar, there is a very limited beer selection, and strangely no drafts.

All the staff is really friendly and the waitresses are a great help when it comes to picking out your table’s “small dishes.” MapBuzz recommends the sautéed mushrooms, or the calamari.

The chicken was perfectly cooked, skin and all, but it was a bit too salty. The mashed potatoes and especially the spinach, which was steamed just enough to retain its texture. The spinach had no topping and let the natural taste complement the chicken’s juicy flavor.

Le Rouge has great food and mixed drinks, but the beer selection is lacking. If you’re going for dinner, try to be out of there before ten or be prepared for overbearing noise from the crowd and DJ. The many-appetizer form of eating is great for large groups of people, and you will be happily surprised by the quality and array of dishes Le Rouge offers.
